“What’s new in the old?”. It’s in the midst of the pandemic, in Toulouse, when the book was yet again revealed to be essential, that we began our collaboration. It all starts with White Relief Over Black by Ellsworth Kelly, Luc’s main reference. And because it wasn’t classy enough, he continued with other references such as the torn and pasted papers by Jean Arp, the covers of the bookbinder Pierre Lucien Martin, or the libraries of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva. Luc wanted to maintain a formal simplicity – apparently calling ourself Bureau Brut is not always enough – to our great pleasure! The identity was therefore built with a single module, which draws an L, an F, or an LF, a folded paper, a windmill or an abstract construction. To accompany it, we worked with the Boogy Brut in its version optimised for text use.
