An impossible meeting, or almost.
\nThe Roman Grotesque is a relationship between two forms: organic and geometric, a connection in which opposites reveal themselves to each other. This typeface draws its inspiration from sans serif typefaces with structured design and serif typefaces with calligraphic heritage. It proposes a meeting between these two great typographic categories, neither quite a grotesque, nor a serif typeface, but more a serif grotesque.<\/h3>\n

The origin of this typeface comes from the visual identity created for the National School of Architecture Paris-Belleville, whose driving concept was – and still is – to “put the human being at the heart of construction”. It is within the framework of these two concepts that this typeface was built; by preserving the general structure of a lin\u00e9ale – its mass, its essence and its color – On which it was delicately crafted in humanistic details proper to the typefaces with serifs. The italic styles follow the real traditional design serif structure – in the shape of the lowercase \u201ca\u201d and \u201cg\u201d, in the bridge of the \u201cn\u201d or in the attacks of the diagonal letters \u201cv, w, x and y\u201d. <\/h3>\n

The Roman Grotesque is available in eight weights with their italic equivalents. This wide variety makes it easier to prioritize the text, and to meet complex layout requirements. It has also been designed for use in running text, and in a reading body copy. Moreover, the thicker the text, the more discreet the serifs are, the space between the letters is reduced and allows a more striking use in headlines.
